I just thought I’d jot a few notes down as I think of them.
Telstra is pretty good and Optus works here and there. On the southern end of the house balcony is usually most consistent for both optus and Telstra. On the beach in front of the house always seems to work no matter what. On the surf beach it works on the southern end half of the island but if you get high you can often get coverage.
The really nice thing about Moreton is how unspoilt it is and the lack of boofheads because of the little extra effort it takes to get there. It always amazes me that you can go back in time so close to Brisbane. No sealed roads, drive on the beach. However when its been dry for a while you do need a real 4WD. The sand tracks deepen up and loosen up and the RAV4’s etc spin their wheels when they bottom out. Letting your tires down a bit can get you out but not if your sitting on your axles. No problem round the Kooringal township though.
Winter at Moreton
In winter you can be the only one on the beach( or so for the next 5 ks either side) When the big westerly’s blow the bait comes in and the Tailor and Mackeral follow. The wind blows over your head and you can sit in protected spots in the sun or flick out a loooong way with the wind behind you with a lure for a fish. Or the surf rolls in and you drive along the beach and pick your bank to surf on with the breeze offshore and the waves hollow. The tides are small during the day so you can go where you like. For us this is the best time by far.
